3 killed in Stevenson Expressway wrong-way crash on SW Aspect
Police responded to the crash involving a automobile and an SUV within the outbound lanes of I-55 close to Cicero Avenue at about 12:35 a.m.
Police stated two ladies have been driving the fallacious approach on the expressway in a Hyundai sedan after they collided with a person driving south in his Toyota SUV. All three have been pronounced useless on the scene.
Two of the victims have been recognized to the Prepare dinner County Medical Examiner’s Workplace as Khalid Jaber, 54, of Oak Garden and Rella Ellise Norey, 26, of Chicago.
Nobody else was within the automobiles, police stated.
Jaber’s household stated he leaves behind 5 children and a number of other family members.
“Khalid was essentially the most mild soul,” Jaber’s household stated in a press release. “The best son to his dad and mom, loving husband to his spouse and doting father to his kids to whom he was their world. Khalid was the spine of his household. Khalid was unparalleled in his kindness and generosity to others. He went out of his approach to assist whomever he might. All the time smiling at all times blissful. It is a devastating and earth-shattering loss to us all. We’re immensely saddened. His loss creates a void within the lives of all he touched which can’t ever be crammed.”
All outbound lanes of the Stevenson Expressway have been closed at Cicero whereas police investigated. Lanes reopened shortly after 5:30 a.m.
